"Krant" facies

In the Prussian Fm. of the Upper Eocene there is an interesting "Krant" facies. These are ferruginous sandstones of ginger colour with a lot of fossils.

Fossils

The first publication on the description of fossils from the "Krant" facies belongs to Karl Mayer (1861, link). In this publication, he described 35 different species of fossils from this locality. These are bivalves, worms, sea urchins, etc.
